Prince William Sound

We went on a 9 hour ride on a catamaran in Prince William Sound yesterday. We saw: Black-legged Kittiwakes (they look a bit like seagulls), Pidgeon Guillemots (they are in the same family as puffins), lots of bald eagles, cormorants, lots of tufted puffins, lots of stellar sea lions, 4 humpback whales, a black bear with her 3 cubs, sea otters (some with their young on their tummies), Dall's porpoise swimming in the boats wake, and harbor seals by the glacier. This is a map of our route.
The water in the sound is from turquoise to deep green. The ripple in the water close to shore is a young humpback whale.
Beautiful waterfalls on our route.
Stellar sea lions playing king of the buoy. The one falling off lost!
More of the green water.
Harbor seals on the ice by Mercer Glacier.
The ride was beautiful!!
Mercer Glacier. We stayed at the base of the glacier for about 45 minutes. We got to see it "calf" several times, it was spectacular.
Sea otter with a baby on its tummy.
Puffin. There were about 20 swimming close to the boat.
Humpback whale just going under again. The first thing you see is the water spout, then it rolls and you see the tail. It's pretty cool.
Sea lion colony. There were hundreds just sunning on the rocks along the shore. They have to get out of the water to rest. We really had a great day. Lots of game to be seen, good food, and good company.
