Juneau & boat ride back to Skagway

Mendenhall Glacier just north of Juneau. Need to get out picture from 2009 to see how far it has receded.
Mendenhall Glacier with the falls.
Shoreline. No whales this trip, but the seas were a little calmer. I say a little calmer--we did have one wave that washed up and over the boat from front to back and soaked Brenda, who was sitting just behind the cabin on the back of the boat! It was quite the ride.
A boat that we passed on the trip
This is one of the ferries that RVers take from Haines to Seattle. It takes 3 days by ferry. Driving from Haines to Seattle takes about 10 days.
We passed an area where a glacier river meets the sea causing this dramatic color change in the water. There's a lot of silt in the water. This also happened close to Juneau and boats can no longer navigate that section because it's so shallow.
Taken from inside the cabin. The water on the window is not from rain, it is from the waves splashing up on the window
I took this one to show the color of the water. Great day, mecklazine worked really well although I was a bit drowsy all day! Today we get to take the White Pass & Yukon Railroad three hour trip.
